Body Space Movement

Royal Academy of Art The Hague 2019
Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam

The curriculum at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in the Hague is in many aspects inspired by the Bauhaus. In the run-up to the exhibition The Netherlands < > Bauhaus – Pioneers of a New World at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, students of the Interior Architecture & Furniture Design department received the assignment to create an interactive, stand-alone installation and a parade in line with the subtitle of the exhibition ‘pioneers of a new world’.

Together we developed costumes in movement, experiencing how material, form and movement come together forming structures that create an exhibition on various urban spots in the city of Rotterdam.

The Bauhaus Vorkurs was about experiencing material, form and color. The teachers were students and the students were teachers in a way. This was a continuing circle. They did not base their teachings on any preconceived ideas of form, but sought the vital spark of life behind life`s ever changing forms.

The pop-up installation had been presented at various locations in Rotterdam, including the Centraal Station, Centrale Bibliotheek and the Grafisch Lyceum .
